June 11

Hope you enjoyed a relaxing weekend basking in the sunshine. This coming week is Spirit in the City and we will have our usual prayer group at Corpus Christi to intercede for the event and particularly for all the evangelisation initiatives that will be taking place on the streets of Central London. Sister Cristina has shown us the way forward by winning the Italian Voice while at the same time showing the world how beautiful it is to be a Catholic.

God bless always,

Damian

Wednesday June 11, 7pm: Corpus Christi Prayer Group, Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Maiden Lane

There will be Rosary as usual from 7pm along with Eucharistic adoration and music ministry, followed by a social at the Coal Hole. This week there will be a focus on intercessory prayers for Spirit in the City.

Spirit in the City, June 11-14, London West End

The biggest Catholic festival in the West End comprises three days of presentations, street evangelisation, Eucharistic adoration, workshops and concerts. I would particularly like to draw your attention to a Eucharistic procession from St Patrick's Church Soho Square to Corpus Christi on the Friday evening from 8.15pm, followed by night prayer and Benediction at Corpus Christi. This is a great opportunity to witness to the faith. Find out more at www.spiritinthecity.org

Youth 2000 Fundraising Ball, Saturday 14 June, The Thistle Hotel (Edinburgh Suite), Bryanston St, Marble Arch, W1H 7EH, with drinks reception from 6pm

Dinner tickets for the Y2K ball are sold out. However, if, like Cinders, you are left wondering how you are going to get to the ball, then your fairy godmother has appeared in the form of a £25 non-dining ticket. This gives you the chance to gather in the bar for a drinks reception from 8pm, participate in the talent auction from around 8.30pm and hit the dance floor from 9pm, until late. There will also be a chance to watch the England v Italy World Cup game in the Glenn Miller Hotel Bar & Drinks Reception area live from 11pm.

Please email janetjoseph1414 (at) gmail.com to get your name on the non-dining guestlist and to find out how you can pay for your ticket online in advance. Remember it's black tie/cocktail dress! Have a great night if you are going.

World Cup viewing with Fannon & Gannon Associates

The World Cup in Brazil kicks-off this Thursday. Adrian Gannon is organising viewings of matches in the Sherlock Holmes Hotel in Baker St. He will be definitely be doing the England games, the Final and selected other games, such as the Semi-Finals.

It's an opportunity to watch the games in a nice atmosphere without any boorish yobs, with reserved seating and among other Catholics representing different nations. He hopes that you will be going to the Y2K ball to watch it there, but if not, you are welcome to come and watch England v Italy on Saturday June 14.

Email adriangannon (at) hotmail.co.uk to find out more (the venue may change according to licensing hours, so worth checking). May the best team win (come on England!).

That's all folks
Damian
