Other events:

40 Days for Life
I just thought that 40 Days for Life's Autumn campaign may be of interest. They Prayer outside the Twickenham Abortion clinic (which was the former Catholic Convent of the Daughters of Mary Immaculate) from 8am to 8pm each day for 40 days from this Wednesday 24th September until 2 November and help women who decide to keep their baby with adoption, financial and accommodation support!

The words of Blessed Mother Teresa Noble Prize Winner: "I feel that the greatest destroyer of peace today is abortion, because it is a war against the child, a direct killing of the innocent child, murder by the mother herself. And if we accept that a mother can kill even her own child, how can we tell other people not to kill one another? How do we persuade a woman not to have an abortion? As always, we must persuade her with love and we remind ourselves that love means to be willing to give until it hurts

Jonathan Baylis is organising a pilgrimage to the festival. If you haven't been to Medugorje, it's highly recommended and many blessings come from a visit. The pilgrimage costs £475 including flights, accommodation, breakfast and dinner. There are still places available. For more info call John on 01423 546 175

3) Evangelium Conference, August 1-3, the Oratory School, Oxfordshire

If you are ever brave enough to engage with an aggressive secularist on why the Catholic Church is the answer to the problems of humanity, Evangelium will empower you to provide answers. It will also be a great fun and relaxing weekend. Evangelium is an initiative that aims to explain the Catholic faith in the context of the modern world. It is a series of talks and workshops spread out over a weekend in the glorious surroundings of the Oratory School near Reading. One of the really fun things about it is that it is really varied spiritual and cultural exploration of the Faith and the social programme will hopefully cater for all tastes.

Ten Ten Theatre's latest play, This is my body, is a one-woman play about human trafficking. It tells the story of a woman who is coming to terms with being a victim of trafficking in the UK. The play is timely because the Modern Slavery Bill is going through Parliament this year but will only go some of the way to dealing with this terrible scourge on the modern world. Awareness needs to be raised. What's more, the study week is set in the beautiful grounds of Buckfast Abbey on the edge of Dartmoor. If, like me, you sadly no longer come into the young adult category, then maybe you have a young friend or relative that might really benefit from this opportunity to get to know their faith better. For more information and to book contact Br Nicholas Crowe OP at studyweek (at) english.op.org.

Room to rent for a female in a four-bedroomed Christian house in Harrow, North West London for just £352 a month

We're not an estate agent, but I'm mentioning this because 1) It's well cheap 2) it's a characterful property with a sizeable garden 3) It's a nice, sociable Christian household. So, if you happen to be on the lookout for a new crib or know a woman who does, I think it's well worth checking out. Find out more from greg2 (at) lorriman.com

Finally, I would like to thank all those who prayed for me while I was in hospital recently. It all seems to have gone smoothly (arm still attached to shoulder!).

Wednesday 30 April - Catholic Voices Speaker Training Deadline

Catholic Voices is preparing to train up another cadre of lay people on how to speak about the Catholic Church and its teachings to the media. The training starts in the Autumn. The organisation was started in preparation for the Pope's visit in 2010 and has since flourished and inspired similar initiatives across the world. If you think this could be for you, register your interest at http://www.catholicvoices.org.uk/event/fifth-national-speakers-training-london-sept-dec-2014. Wednesday is the closing date.

Night Fever, Saturday, May 3, 6pm-10.30pm, St Patrick's, Soho, 21a Soho Square, London W1D 4NR

No, it's not John Travolta getting on down. It's a group of wonderful Catholics who walk the streets of Soho in pairs with a lantern on a Saturday night and invite passers by into St Patrick's Soho Square to light a candle in front of the Blessed Sacrament. Even if it's only a minute or two in which that person is in the Church, it can be transformative. Whatever you feel called to do, go out on to the streets and invite people in, be part of the music ministry or just quietly pray in the Church, you would be very welcome. Helping in Lourdes - 25th Westminster Diocesan Pilgrimage, 20-26 July

The Westminster Diocese are looking for volunteers to help on this year’s Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes. Each year, the diocese takes a group of sick and disabled ‘malades’ to stay in the ‘Accueil St Frai’, a sort of empty hospital which will be filled with a team of nurses, doctors and volunteer helpers. Duties include helping to get the malades up, give them their meals and helping them to make their pilgrimage through the events, both spiritual and social. The pilgrimage can make a very positive difference to their lives, as well as giving their main carers a much-needed rest. Most volunteers find it a rewarding and enormously moving experience. The diocese hopes to be able to take 40 malades to Lourdes this year. If you are interested in finding out more about volunteering with the Westminster Pilgrimage, please contact the chief helper, Nick Leonard, at nickleonard507 (at) gmail.com

Thursday 10 April: Catholic Voices meeting: Abuse in the Catholic Church: The Next Steps, 6.30-8pm, University of Notre Dame, 1 Suffolk St, SW1Y 4HG (off Trafalgar Square), details attached.

Catholic Voices is doing marvellous and important work enabling lay people to put forward a Catholic point of view (faithful to the Church's teachings) in the public square. The Catholic Voices Academy is hosting a meeting with the chance to quiz three top Catholic experts engaged in dealing with the issue of abuse in the Catholic Church in the UK. It's a sobering subject and, over and above our prayers and penance for the wrongs done, it's obviously extremely useful to find out how the Church is dealing with this issue so that you have constructive answers the next time someone asks you a difficult question about it. If you would like to attend, you must register by close of play today at academy@catholicvoices.org.uk (please note no tweeting, blogging or reporting of this event is allowed)

Saturday 12 April: Processional Prayer Vigil led by the Franciscan Friars of Renewal, from 9am, St Margaret's Church, 130 St Margaret's Rd, East Twickenham TW1 1RL

God's Helpers of Precious Infants are organising a peaceful procession and vigil to the BPAS abortion facility in Twickenham on Saturday morning starting with Mass and adoration at 9am at St Margaret's Church followed by the procession from 9.50am with an image of Our Lady of Guadalope, and then the vigil outside the clinic. Please support this event as lives are saved as a result of this kind of initiative.

"Look at the birds in the sky.  They do not sow or reap or gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them."  Matthew 6:26
By spending time in front of  Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament in prayer we allow for intimacy with our Heavenly Father who can satisfy the aches, longings and needs of our human hearts.

Time for socialising in the pub afterwards.

God bless,
Simone

Healing Service 19th February

Dear All,

we will be having a Healing Service with Fr Angelus this coming Wednesday.  Come with great expectation and a hope in Jesus for what He will be doing.

We have so many deep and buried wounds that we are often unaware of and these wounds have an impact on the way that we live our life.  Jesus through His Passion won for us freedom and He came so that we may have life and live it to the full.  We bring to him ourselves with the hope and faith that he will heal and transform our wounds wether in emotions, mind, body or spirit.

Pub afterwards.

God bless,
Simone

Afterwards we'll go to the Coal Hole for drinks

Next week we have the Healing Service

God Bless
Simone

Wednesday 4th of February

Dear all,

this Wednesday Fr Alan will be celebrating Mass for us at the Corpus Christi Prayer Group.  The intentions will be offered up for the repose of the soul of Damian Arnold's three year old nephew who sadly passed away last week and for The Arnold family.  Please keep them in your prayers during this difficult time.

Tomorrow night there will be a 48 hour tube strike but the prayer group will be happening with time to socialise in the Coal Hole afterwards.

See you then!
God bless,

Simone

Thursday 23 January 2014

Wednesday 29th of January

We will have rosary, worship/taize music, adoration before the blessed sacrament and an opportunity be led into contemplative prayer with scripture with Lectio Divina.

The prayer group is to bring us all into deeper contemplation of Our Lord and God as in the words of the Saint;

What happiness do we not feel in the presence of God, when we find ourselves alone at his feet, before the holy tabernacle! … 'Come, my soul, redouble your ardor! You are here alone to adore your God! His look rests on you alone!' Ah! if we only had the angels' eyes! Seeing our Lord Jesus Christ here, on that altar, and looking at us, how we should love him! We should want to stay always at his feet; it would be a foretaste of heaven; everything else would become insipid to us."

- St. John Vianney

As well as this it's important for us to make good Christian friendships and many a friendship and not to mention some marriages have started here at Corpus Christi.  We have a time of fellowship downstairs in our local watering hole The Coal Hole on the Strand.

Monday 20 January 2014

This Wednesday

We will be having prayer group with the rosary, worship, silence and adoration.

Drinks in the pub to follow.

God bless,
Simone

A weekend to prepare for Lent, reflecting on our journey of transformation in Christ through the Easter mystery – becoming conformed to the pattern of Christ through dying and rising in Him with input from members of the monastic community.  The retreat offers an experience of the Benedictine way of life and inspiration for Christian living through participation in the monastic rhythm of prayer, and reflection on key themes of the monastic tradition. This event is hosted by the Monastic Team and The Wellspring Community, which is a Catholic community seeking to live the Gospel with the Rule of St Benedict as our guide.
